The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development participated in a pacific demonstration at Qalandya checkpoint near Jerusalem, in support of the Palestinian bid for statehood at the UN. In parallel, on the other side of the checkpoint another feminist demonstration took place, organized by Israeli peace activists and feminists, however was prohibited from crossing to the Palestinian side.
On her part, the general director of the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development confirmed that the popular activities would continue until we gain full membership in the UN. She hopes that the popular action will expand to include larger communities of supporters, hinting that the popular movements are significant to establish the Palestinian state and ending the Israeli occupation.
