Civic educator and unionist Naela Oudeh succeeded
to collect 36 thousands shekels, the accruals of Meriem Qert from Beitounia. Qert
has worked as a sales representative at one of the companies in Ramallah for
over 14 years. Her contract was wrongfully terminated, as she was made redundant
last month. The former breadwinner is currently unemployed and unable to
support her family (her mother and sister, as well as herself), which staggers
under difficult economic circumstances.
Qert expresses her appreciation and gratitude for
the Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development, and especially for
Naela Oudeh, who stood by her and supported her. She thanks PWWSD for accelerating
the settlement to her problem, and achieving her labour rights. Qert also
encourages working women who are discriminate against to seek the services
offered by PWWSD, and never to compromise their rights. She stressed the need
to educate working women of their labour rights, protected by the laws and
conventions.
Naela Oudeh stressed that PWWSD will always support
women, until they achieve all of their rights, protected by the Palestinian and
International laws.
