Women Slaughter must Stop

The Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development condemns the murder of 34 year-old Randa Mahareeq from Hebron, who was killed by her brother and father. The prosecutors tried to conceal the murder with the assistance of a corrupt forensic scientist, who falsified Randa’s death certificate without analyzing her body. 

We, at the Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development denounce the fourth crime this month, as 4 other women were murdered in cold blood in Gaza, Tulkarem, Bethlehem and Hebron. Number of murders reached 11 in August, which is a serious indicator of the increasing tendency of femicide. The absence of a deterring law, and the dominance of the patriarchal mentality which discriminates against women, increase the blatant violations of women’s right to live.  Therefore, we call upon duty bearers not to dismiss these incidents, and to investigate in the crimes and bring prosecutors to justice.
