Women Slaughter must Stop

The Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development condemns the murder of 34 year-old Randa Mahareeq from Hebron, who was killed by her brother and father. The prosecutors tried to conceal the murder with the assistance of a corrupt forensic scientist, who falsified Randa’s death certificate without analyzing her body. 

We, at the Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development denounce the fourth crime this month, as 4 other women were murdered in cold blood in Gaza, Tulkarem, Bethlehem and Hebron. Number of murders reached 11 in August, which is a serious indicator of the increasing tendency of femicide. The absence of a deterring law, and the dominance of the patriarchal mentality which discriminates against women, increase the blatant violations of women’s right to live.  Therefore, we call upon duty bearers not to dismiss these incidents, and to investigate in the crimes and bring prosecutors to justice.

PWWSD publishes New Edition of “Yanabee’ Alhayat”

The Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development published the 65^th edition of its quaretly journal “Yanabee’ Alhayat”, which stands for Springs of Life. The journal explores social and feminist issues, researched and criticized by well-known researchers and gender activists. The new edition, however, sheds light on national struggles as it tackles in depth the Nakba of 1948 and the Nakssa in 1967, and their implications on women’s political engagement.  The new edition also tackles the verbal history of those two catastrophes and the psychological impacts on women. Many Palestinian artists have reflected the Nakba in their word, as evident in many of the works of Mrs. Tamam Al-Akhhal.

Moreover, Yanabee’ Alhayat investigates the multiple and compound forms of discrimination against women such as the matter of social protection, the work atmosphere, status of women working in the NGO sector, as it also documents the testimonies of many refugee women and their memories.

The editorial of the journal emphasizes on the Right of Return, which will not perish. PWWSD stresses that the Right of Return is an individual and a collective right, beyond any reconciliation or settlement.

نداء  للاتحاد الاوروبي لوقف اتفاق التعاون التجاري مع اسرائيل

دعت عدة  ائتلافات وشبكات واتحادات اهلية وشعبية فلسطينية الاتحاد الاوروبي لوقف اتفاق التعاون التجاري مع اسرائيل الذي كشف النقاب عنه في الرابع والعشرين من الشهر الماضي، والقاضي بتطوير التعاون بين اوروبا واسرائيل في اكثر من 60 مشروعا ضمن خمسة عشرة حقلا مختلفا.

واكد الموقعون على النداء الموجه للاتحاد الاوروبي على ضرورة العمل لوقف هذا القرار فورا لما ينطوي عليه من تشجيع لاسرائيل لاستمرار عدوانها وسياساتها العنصرية والتوسعية  في الاراضي الفلسطينية التي تحولت الى اكثر اشكال نظم  التميز والفصل العنصري على مر العصر الحديث ، و بدلا من تطوير العلاقة دعى النداء الى مقاطعة اسرائيل وسحب الاستثمارات منها وفرض عقوبات دولية عليها لما تقوم به من تطهير عرقي في الاراضي الفلسطينية.

وشدد البيان ان هذا التعاون من شأنه ان يوفر غطاء لدولة الاحتلال لارتكاب المزيد من الجرائم بحق الشعب الفلسطيني ، ويشير بوضوح الى التعامل بازدواجية المعايير التي تتناقض حتى مع مواقف الاتحاد الاوروبي نفسه الذي اكد منتصف ايار الماضي في بيان صادر عنه استحالة قيام دولة فلسطينية كاملة السيادة بسبب الانشطة الاستيطانية ، وسياسة هدم المنازل ، ومصادرة الاراضي في مناطق (ج).

كما دعى الموقعون اوروبا الى التمسك بالقانون الدولي والقرارات الدولية التي تنطبق على الاراضي الفلسطينية وهي المعيار الاساس لمدى وجدية  امتثال اسرائيل بصفتها دولة احتلال للقانون الدولي والانساني.

كما دعى البيان المؤسسات الاوروبية الصديقة والاتحادات النقابية والحقوقية والانسانية الى التحرك للضغط على الحكومات الاوروبية لوقف تنفيذ هذا القرار الجائر الذي يعلن انحيازا واضحا للسياسات الاسرائيلية التي تشكل خرقا فضا لابسط القوانين والاعراف الدولية ، كما دعى الى استمرار وتوسيع التضامن الدولي للحركات الاجتماعية والمؤسسات الدولية لدعم نضال الشعب الفلسطيني في انهاء الاحتلال عن ارضه.

ووقع النداء بالاضافة الى شبكة المنظمات الاهلية ، كل من الهيئة الوطنية للمؤسسات الاهلية ، الاتحاد العام للمرأة الفلسطينية ، الائتلاف من احل النزاهة والمساءلة امان ، الاتحاد العام للجمعيات الخيرية ، اتحاد نقابات اساتذة موظفي الجامعات الفلسطينية ، الاتحاد العام لعمال فلسطين ، التحاد الوطني لتجمع المؤسسات الاهلية

وهي اطر وائتلافات واتحادات تضم في عضوية كل منها عشرات المؤسسات الاهلية والشعبية الفاعلة على الصعيد المجتمعي الوطني.
